First of all, I'm a strong supporter of the idea that everyone -- EVERYONE -- in this country has the right to vote (over 18, of course). Nevertheless, this video scares the shit out of me:
And for all I know, this happens on the other side of the political divide as well; who knows, this video may have even been rigged. Even so, the responses of these people are a sad commentary on the current state of political discourse in our country.

Don't let this freak you out. In any situation as this, there's adrenaline mixed with hyperbolic statements, and even here, I think many are just meant to be humorous. I can imagine it would be difficult to yell out an engaging 10-minute mantra on tax philosophy, and hence, you get simplistic terms like, "socialist" or "fascist".
But above all that, it's still tacky and not a series of events I'd want to associate with. In that way, political events are a lot like sporting events. Just us vs. them team spirit, and not much more.
I'm not a fan of sports fans who take their teams too seriously either. Mob mentality is never good and what these people were saying is downright deplorable.
If I had said those kind of things, I would be terribly ashamed of myself right now for such a lack of self-consciousness and self-control, and perhaps even more sinister desires that should not have been there to begin with.
I'm sorry, but I cannot reduce these actions to "tacky".
Pretty tame comapred to everything thats been said about Palin since she he the national scene.

Well, Chris, everyone can't be a mensa scholar. If you want to go to an event that doesn't produce hyperbolic diatribes, try a basket weaving class.
